Tickets will be sold on the door, £8 / £12 concessions.
The gig will be a kind of International Women’s Day celebration.
If you have ever seen bellies! you will know that we are a fairly loud band, so this might seem like an odd match.
We are however re-working the songs, to make them a bit more acoustic, and have invited a few friends to join us that will emphasise a different sound.
At the moment we are working out the different versions, and they sound pretty good.
We are excited!
And you should be too. The gig is, after all, an opportunity to listen to Frankie and Variegated Women perform.
Despite living in Cardiff for many years (where she is based), I didn’t meet Frankie until 2012, when I was conducting research for Music & Liberation.
Listening to Frankie speak (and sometimes sing) to me about her life in that interview pretty much opened up the world of folk and traditional song in one fowl swoop.
Expect that, and lots of other surprises on March 12th!
